Canon U.S.A. is seeking a polished, proactive, and detail-oriented **Public Relations Specialist** to support the company’s public relations plan and help build, protect, and maintain a favorable brand image. This role is ideal for a communications professional who understands media relations, brand storytelling, press materials, event coordination, and the importance of consistent, accurate public messaging.

The Public Relations Specialist will support day-to-day PR activities and interact regularly with business, trade, B2B, consumer/lifestyle, and industry media. This position will help coordinate press outreach, develop written materials, support press events, monitor media coverage, and contribute to communications efforts that strengthen Canon U.S.A.’s reputation across key audiences.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, organized project coordinator, and confident communicator who can work effectively with internal stakeholders, external media contacts, agencies, and cross-functional teams. This person should be comfortable managing details, meeting deadlines, responding to media needs, and supporting PR initiatives that align with broader business and brand goals.

## Key Responsibilities

* Support the execution of Canon U.S.A.’s public relations plan and related communications initiatives.
* Help build and maintain a favorable public image for the company, its products, services, and brand reputation.
* Interact regularly with business, trade, B2B, consumer/lifestyle, and industry media.
* Coordinate PR activities, media outreach, product announcements, campaign support, and communications projects.
* Draft, edit, proofread, and distribute press materials, including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, pitches, briefing documents, talking points, award submissions, and background materials.
* Assist with planning and coordinating press events, media briefings, product demonstrations, trade shows, launch events, interviews, and related communications activities.
* Maintain media lists, editorial calendars, press contacts, coverage reports, and PR tracking documents.
* Monitor media coverage, industry news, competitor activity, and relevant trends that may affect the company’s communications strategy.
* Compile media coverage reports, summaries, recaps, and performance updates for internal stakeholders.
* Support media relations by responding to inquiries, coordinating interviews, gathering information, and routing requests to appropriate subject matter experts.
* Work with internal teams to collect product details, business updates, executive input, images, specifications, and supporting information for press materials.
* Support agency coordination, vendor communication, event logistics, shipment tracking, review units, sample management, and media follow-up as needed.
* Help ensure all public relations materials are accurate, brand-aligned, approved, and consistent with company standards.
* Assist with crisis communications preparation, issue monitoring, and reputation management activities when needed.
* Support cross-functional communications projects involving marketing, product teams, corporate communications, legal, executives, and external partners.
* Stay current with media trends, PR best practices, industry developments, social media activity, and emerging communications opportunities.

## Required Qualifications

* Experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, marketing communications, journalism, or a related communications role.
* Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and message development skills.
* Ability to create clear and professional press materials for a variety of audiences.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience interacting with media, agencies, internal stakeholders, or external communications partners.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, approvals, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Understanding of public relations practices, media outreach, press event coordination, and brand reputation management.
* Ability to monitor media coverage and summarize key findings for stakeholders.
* Professional judgment and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email platforms, collaboration tools, and basic reporting or tracking systems.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, English, business, or a related field.
* Experience working in a corporate communications department, public relations agency, consumer brand, technology company, imaging company, electronics company, or B2B organization.
* Experience supporting product launches, trade shows, executive interviews, press briefings, or media events.
* Familiarity with media monitoring tools, PR databases, editorial calendars, and coverage reporting platforms.
* Experience working with business, trade, consumer/lifestyle, B2B, or industry press.
* Understanding of photography, imaging, printing, technology, electronics, business solutions, or related markets.
* Experience coordinating approvals across legal, product, marketing, executive, and communications teams.
* Ability to support both proactive media outreach and reactive media response.
