## About the Role

The University of Washington Information School is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of **Assistant Teaching Professor** with a focus on **Information Management and Information Systems**. This role is ideal for an educator and scholar-practitioner who is passionate about preparing students to design, manage, evaluate, and lead information systems in organizations.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach and help develop curriculum in areas such as enterprise information systems, technology strategy, systems architecture, data management, information governance, information security, and risk management. The position will support both graduate and undergraduate programs and contribute to the Information School’s mission of advancing the responsible, effective, and inclusive use of information and technology.

Faculty in this role are expected to provide high-quality teaching, participate in curriculum leadership, mentor and advise students, contribute to school and university service, and support the University of Washington’s commitment to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming academic community.

## Key Responsibilities

* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Management, Information Systems, and related areas.
* Lead and support curriculum development for courses and programs focused on enterprise information systems, technology strategy, systems architecture, data management, governance, security, and risk.
* Design engaging, current, and practical learning experiences that prepare students for professional roles in information, technology, data, and organizational leadership.
* Develop course materials, assignments, projects, assessments, case studies, and applied learning activities.
* Teach topics related to enterprise systems, organizational technology strategy, systems design, IT management, digital transformation, information governance, cybersecurity principles, privacy, compliance, and risk management.
* Incorporate current industry practices, emerging technologies, ethical considerations, and real-world case examples into teaching.
* Mentor and advise students on academic progress, professional development, career pathways, and project work.
* Support student success through inclusive teaching practices, clear communication, timely feedback, and accessible learning environments.
* Collaborate with faculty colleagues on curriculum planning, program assessment, course sequencing, and instructional improvement.
* Participate in school, department, program, and university service activities.
* Contribute to committees, faculty meetings, admissions activities, student reviews, curriculum initiatives, and community-building efforts.
* Support partnerships with industry, professional organizations, alumni, and community stakeholders where appropriate.
* Help evaluate and improve academic programs to ensure alignment with student needs, employer expectations, and developments in the information field.
* Stay current with trends in information systems, enterprise technology, data management, cybersecurity, risk, governance, and digital strategy.

## Required Qualifications

* Advanced degree in Information Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Technology Management, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
* Demonstrated expertise in Information Management, Information Systems, enterprise technology, data management, systems architecture, information governance, security, risk management, or related areas.
* Evidence of strong teaching ability or potential for excellence in university-level instruction.
* Ability to teach both technical and organizational aspects of information systems.
* Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technology and information management concepts clearly.
* Ability to design inclusive, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences for diverse student populations.
* Commitment to student success, academic excellence, and continuous improvement in teaching.
* Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Ph.D., doctorate, or terminal degree in a relevant field.
* Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in information systems, technology strategy, data management, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, information governance, or risk management.
* Professional experience in enterprise systems, IT leadership, consulting, systems architecture, data governance, cybersecurity, compliance, risk management, or technology strategy.
* Experience developing new curriculum, revising existing courses, or leading academic program improvements.
* Experience with experiential learning, project-based learning, case-based instruction, online learning, hybrid instruction, or professional education.
* Familiarity with enterprise platforms, cloud systems, data platforms, analytics tools, cybersecurity frameworks, governance models, or IT service management practices.
* Experience mentoring students, advising capstone projects, supervising applied projects, or supporting career preparation.
* Experience working with diverse student populations and applying inclusive pedagogical practices.
* Record of professional engagement, applied research, publications, presentations, industry collaboration, or community service related to information systems and technology.
