## About the Role

IKEA is seeking a creative, practical, and customer-focused **Interior Design Associate** to support showroom and sales support areas in a store-based environment. This role helps translate home-furnishing knowledge, interior design principles, and local market insights into inspiring room settings, vignettes, customer-facing displays, and practical home solutions.

The Interior Design Associate will help create displays that show customers how IKEA products can improve everyday life at home. This includes supporting room settings, product presentations, department action plans, seasonal updates, and sales-driving visual solutions. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys interior design, retail presentation, hands-on merchandising, and helping customers see how furniture, storage, lighting, textiles, and accessories can work together in real homes.

This is a **full-time, benefits-eligible, store-based position**. The ideal candidate is visually creative, organized, trend-aware, and able to balance attractive design with practical retail needs, customer behavior, product availability, and business goals.

## Key Responsibilities

* Support the creation and execution of room settings, vignettes, sales support displays, and customer-facing interior design solutions.
* Use home-furnishing and interior design knowledge to create inspiring, practical, and commercially effective store presentations.
* Help translate IKEA’s design approach into displays that reflect real customer needs, local living situations, and everyday home challenges.
* Implement department action plans related to showroom updates, seasonal changes, product launches, sales priorities, and store presentation goals.
* Style furniture, accessories, lighting, textiles, storage solutions, wall décor, and related products to create cohesive room environments.
* Maintain showroom and sales support areas so they remain attractive, clean, current, accurate, and easy for customers to shop.
* Refresh displays to reflect product changes, customer needs, market trends, and store priorities.
* Support local market solutions by considering how customers in the area live, what spaces they need help with, and which products meet those needs.
* Help customers understand how IKEA products can be combined to create functional, affordable, and attractive home solutions.
* Collaborate with sales, visual merchandising, logistics, communication and interior design, and store leadership teams.
* Assist with signage, product placement, display accuracy, room flow, lighting, color coordination, and layout adjustments.
* Ensure displays support customer navigation, product discovery, add-on sales, and strong visual storytelling.
* Follow IKEA brand standards, design principles, store guidelines, safety expectations, and department procedures.
* Track display needs, product availability, missing items, damaged products, and presentation issues.
* Stay current on home-furnishing trends, interior design ideas, customer preferences, sustainability practices, and local market needs.
* Contribute creative ideas that improve the showroom experience and help customers feel inspired to take action.

## Required Qualifications

* Interest or experience in interior design, home furnishing, visual merchandising, retail design, showroom design, or related creative retail work.
* Strong visual eye for layout, color, proportion, texture, lighting, and product coordination.
* Ability to create attractive and practical displays that support customer inspiration and sales.
* Understanding of how home-furnishing solutions can improve everyday living spaces.
* Ability to work hands-on in a store environment, including arranging furniture, styling displays, and maintaining showroom areas.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to follow action plans, design guidelines, safety standards, and store procedures.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a polished store presentation.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy retail environment.
* Willingness to stay current on home trends, customer needs, and product knowledge.
* Availability to work a full-time, store-based schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Education, coursework, or certification in interior design, visual merchandising, architecture, retail design, home staging, fine arts, or a related field.
* Experience working in a furniture, home goods, design, retail, or showroom environment.
* Experience creating room settings, vignettes, product displays, mood boards, floor layouts, or customer-facing design solutions.
* Familiarity with IKEA products, brand style, sustainability values, and home-furnishing approach.
* Experience using design, layout, or planning tools.
* Knowledge of current interior design trends, small-space living, storage solutions, lighting, textiles, and home organization.
* Experience working with cross-functional retail teams to execute sales or merchandising plans.

## Ideal Candidate Profile
