## About the Role

SAIC is seeking an experienced, full-time **Air Traffic Control Instructor** to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions team at the **Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center**, also known as **ARTCC / ZTL**, in **Hampton, Georgia**. This position supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration and plays an important role in preparing developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers for safe, effective, and consistent operational performance.

The Air Traffic Control Instructor will deliver hands-on classroom and simulation laboratory training in a highly specialized aviation environment. This role is ideal for an experienced air traffic control professional who understands en route operations, controller training standards, simulation-based instruction, and the importance of clear communication, safety, and procedural accuracy.

The successful candidate will support the development, evaluation, and improvement of controller skills through structured instruction, practical exercises, scenario-based training, and performance feedback. This position requires strong technical knowledge, professionalism, patience, and the ability to guide learners through complex air traffic control concepts and operational situations.

## Key Responsibilities

* Deliver classroom instruction and simulation laboratory training to developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers.
* Support FAA air traffic controller training services as part of the SAIC Controller Training Solutions team.
* Provide instruction related to en route air traffic control procedures, communication practices, separation standards, sector operations, traffic management, and operational decision-making.
* Facilitate simulation-based training exercises that help students develop practical controller skills in realistic operating conditions.
* Prepare, present, and reinforce training materials in accordance with approved curriculum, FAA requirements, local procedures, and program standards.
* Observe student performance during classroom activities, laboratory simulations, and practical exercises.
* Provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback to students to support skill development and operational readiness.
* Evaluate student progress and help identify areas requiring additional instruction, practice, or remediation.
* Support training for both developmental controllers and Certified Professional Controllers, including refresher, recurrent, or skill-enhancement training as needed.
* Maintain accurate training records, evaluations, progress notes, and related documentation.
* Work with training supervisors, FAA personnel, instructors, and program staff to support effective training delivery.
* Assist with the development, review, and improvement of training scenarios, lesson plans, exercises, and instructional materials.
* Ensure training activities are conducted in a professional, consistent, and safety-focused manner.
* Reinforce proper phraseology, procedures, coordination techniques, situational awareness, and decision-making practices.
* Support simulation lab readiness by helping coordinate scenarios, equipment use, student assignments, and instructional flow.
* Stay current with applicable FAA procedures, training requirements, operational changes, and instructional best practices.
* Contribute to a positive learning environment that supports professionalism, accountability, and operational excellence.

## Required Qualifications

* Prior experience as an air traffic controller, air traffic control instructor, or related aviation operations professional.
* Strong knowledge of air traffic control procedures, terminology, phraseology, and operational practices.
* Experience with en route air traffic control operations or related ARTCC training environments.
* Ability to deliver classroom and simulation-based instruction clearly and effectively.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to learners.
* Ability to evaluate student performance and identify areas for improvement.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, accuracy, and procedural compliance.
* Ability to work effectively with FAA personnel, SAIC team members, instructors, students, and program leadership.
* Comfortable working in a structured training environment with established curriculum, procedures, and documentation requirements.
* Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, and focus while supporting learners at different stages of development.
* Ability to work full-time on site at the Atlanta ARTCC / ZTL facility in Hampton, Georgia.

## Preferred Qualifications

* Experience as a Certified Professional Controller in an FAA en route facility.
* Prior experience delivering air traffic control training in a classroom, lab, simulation, or operational setting.
* Familiarity with FAA training programs, controller qualification processes, and developmental controller training requirements.
* Experience working at or supporting an Air Route Traffic Control Center.
* Experience developing or modifying training scenarios, lesson plans, instructional materials, or simulation exercises.
* Strong understanding of adult learning principles, performance coaching, and skills-based instruction.
* Experience using simulation systems or training technology used in air traffic control instruction.
* Ability to support multiple types of training, including initial qualification, refresher training, recurrent training, and performance improvement activities.
* Prior experience working as part of a government contractor team supporting FAA programs.
