Description
## About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and growth-oriented **Chief Financial Officer** to serve as one of the most senior leaders in the organization. The CFO will play a critical role in helping drive profitable growth, support organic expansion, evaluate and execute acquisitions, strengthen financial systems, and provide the financial leadership needed to scale the business effectively.
The CFO will partner closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, board members, investors, lenders, customers, potential partners, and future acquirors. This role requires a finance leader who can operate at both the strategic and operational levels: shaping long-term financial direction while also building strong reporting, internal controls, SaaS metrics, forecasting processes, and decision-support systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on executive with strong financial discipline, SaaS business knowledge, M&A experience, investor communication skills, and the ability to translate financial information into clear business insight. This person should be comfortable helping lead a growing company through expansion, operational improvement, capital planning, acquisitions, and strategic opportunities.
## Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a senior member of the executive leadership team and provide financial leadership across the organization.
* Partner with the CEO and leadership team to help drive profitable growth, operational discipline, and long-term enterprise value.
* Develop and manage financial strategies that support organic expansion, acquisitions, customer growth, margin improvement, and scalable operations.
* Own financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, cash management, and performance analysis.
* Strengthen financial systems, reporting processes, internal controls, and operating procedures.
* Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions, investment priorities, pricing, hiring, product strategy, and market expansion.
* Prepare and present financial performance reports for the executive team, board, investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders.
* Own key SaaS financial and operating metrics, including recurring revenue, ARR, MRR, churn, retention, gross margin, CAC, LTV, payback period, bookings, pipeline, expansion revenue, and cash runway.
* Develop dashboards, forecasts, and reporting packages that provide visibility into business performance and future growth.
* Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, capital planning, and strategic analysis.
* Support fundraising, debt financing, lender relationships, investor reporting, and capital structure planning.
* Represent the company in discussions with investors, lenders, customers, potential partners, acquirors, and outside advisors.
* Lead or support M&A activities, including target evaluation, financial due diligence, valuation, deal modeling, transaction support, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance tracking.
* Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, operations, customer success, legal, HR, and technology teams to align financial performance with business execution.
* Build internal processes that improve financial accuracy, accountability, reporting speed, and decision-making.
* Oversee accounting operations, financial close, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, tax support, and audit preparation as appropriate.
* Ensure compliance with financial, tax, legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
* Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks, lenders, legal advisors, and other financial partners.
* Help establish scalable finance practices that support future growth, potential acquisition activity, and strategic exit opportunities.
* Evaluate business risks and opportunities and provide leadership with practical, data-supported recommendations.
## Required Qualifications
* Significant experience in senior finance leadership, such as CFO, VP of Finance, Head of Finance, Corporate Controller, or similar executive finance role.
* Strong experience with financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
* Experience supporting executive leadership, board reporting, investor communications, lender relationships, or strategic finance discussions.
* Strong understanding of SaaS business models and key SaaS financial metrics.
* Experience building financial systems, reporting processes, dashboards, controls, and scalable finance operations.
* Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable business insight.
* Experience with financial modeling, scenario planning, pricing analysis, margin analysis, and business performance reporting.
* Strong business judgment and ability to support strategic decision-making across multiple functions.
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional leaders in sales, marketing, product, operations, customer success, HR, legal, and technology.
* Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* High integrity, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential financial and strategic information.
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience in a SaaS, software, technology, marketplace, data, AI, or subscription-based business.
* Experience with private equity, venture-backed companies, investor-backed growth companies, or founder-led businesses.
* Experience leading or supporting mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, valuations, integrations, or strategic exits.
* Experience representing a company to investors, lenders, acquirors, partners, and other external stakeholders.
* CPA, CFA, MBA, or advanced degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related field.
* Experience with SaaS finance tools, ERP systems, billing systems, CRM platforms, business intelligence tools, and planning software.
* Familiarity with revenue recognition, subscription billing, deferred revenue, customer cohort analysis, and usage-based or recurring revenue models.
* Experience building finance teams, improving internal controls, and professionalizing finance operations.
* Experience supporting fundraising, debt facilities, credit agreements, or capital markets activity.
## Ideal Candidate Profile
