## About the Role
We are seeking dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused Warehouse Order Selectors to support our local foodservice supply chain. This role is responsible for accurately picking customer orders, organizing products, building pallets, and preparing shipments for delivery to local foodservice venues such as restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, and other commercial kitchens.
This is an active, physical warehouse position that requires attention to detail, stamina, and the ability to work safely in different temperature-controlled environments. Warehouse Order Selectors may work in non-refrigerated, refrigerated, and frozen areas while handling a variety of foodservice products.
The ideal candidate is reliable, efficient, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment where accuracy, safety, and productivity are essential.
## Key Responsibilities
### Order Selection & Product Picking
* Pick customer orders accurately according to order sheets, labels, voice-pick systems, handheld scanners, or warehouse management system instructions.
* Select foodservice products from assigned warehouse locations and prepare them for delivery.
* Verify product codes, quantities, descriptions, and order details to ensure accuracy.
* Identify and report product shortages, damaged goods, incorrect inventory, or selection issues.
* Maintain a steady and efficient work pace while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
* Ensure selected products are handled carefully to protect quality and reduce damage.
### Pallet Building & Shipment Preparation
* Build stable, safe, and organized pallets for customer delivery routes.
* Stack products according to weight, size, temperature requirements, and delivery needs.
* Wrap, label, and stage completed pallets or orders for loading and shipment.
* Ensure orders are organized in a way that supports efficient delivery and product protection.
* Follow company procedures for separating refrigerated, frozen, and dry goods.
* Assist with staging products in the correct shipping areas or loading zones.
### Equipment Operation
* Operate electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment as assigned and authorized.
* Inspect equipment before use and report maintenance or safety concerns.
* Follow all safety procedures when operating powered industrial equipment.
* Move products, pallets, and materials throughout warehouse areas safely and efficiently.
* Maintain awareness of coworkers, equipment, traffic patterns, and surrounding conditions.
### Warehouse Storage & Material Movement
* Support the movement, organization, and storage of warehouse products and materials.
* Assist with replenishing pick locations, rotating stock, and maintaining organized storage areas.
* Help ensure products are stored in the proper temperature zones and warehouse locations.
* Support inventory accuracy by reporting discrepancies, misplaced products, or damaged items.
* Keep aisles, work areas, staging areas, and equipment zones clean and free of hazards.
* Assist with general warehouse duties as needed to support daily operations.
### Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
* Follow food safety procedures for handling dry, refrigerated, and frozen products.
* Maintain proper product separation, storage, and handling practices.
* Report damaged packaging, temperature concerns, contamination risks, or product quality issues.
* Follow company policies, warehouse procedures, and regulatory requirements related to foodservice distribution.
* Support cleanliness and sanitation standards in warehouse areas.
* Handle products with care to preserve quality and customer satisfaction.
### Safety & Teamwork
* Work safely in warehouse environments that may include cold, frozen, wet, or busy operating conditions.
* Use proper lifting, bending, stacking, and material-handling techniques.
* Wear required personal protective equipment, including freezer gear when applicable.
* Follow all safety rules related to equipment, traffic flow, loading areas, and warehouse movement.
* Communicate clearly with supervisors, drivers, loaders, inventory teams, and other warehouse employees.
* Contribute to a team-oriented environment focused on accuracy, safety, and service.
## Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* Prior warehouse, distribution, foodservice, grocery, logistics, or order selection experience preferred but not required.
* Experience operating an electric pallet jack, forklift, or similar warehouse equipment preferred.
* Ability to accurately read order information, product labels, item numbers, and basic instructions.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
* Dependable attendance and punctuality.

## Physical Requirements

* Ability to work in temperature-controlled areas, including refrigerated and frozen environments.
* Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely after proper training or certification.

* Ability to work required shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
## Preferred Experience
* Previous experience as an order selector, warehouse associate, picker, forklift operator, pallet jack operator, or distribution center worker.
* Experience in foodservice distribution, grocery distribution, cold storage, freezer warehouse, or supply chain operations.
* Familiarity with warehouse management systems, scanners, voice-pick systems, or order selection technology.
* Forklift or electric pallet jack certification.
* Knowledge of product rotation, staging, loading, inventory control, or food safety procedures.
